Civic Engagement

Participating in civic activities and engaging with the community are additional ways that students retain and apply lessons of service.

Our Mission Happens Every Day, but Veterans Day Celebrations are Particularly Meaningful.

Our founding chapter at Cactus High School has been co-hosting the Carefree Veterans Day Celebration with the Town of Carefree since 2008.  The event includes displays from veteran service organizations, speakers, and patriotic music -- sometimes even spontaneous dancing!  Students are honored to be a vital part of the community celebration.

Since 2015, Sanderson Lincoln has been a generous partner for the Veterans Day Parade.  Not only do they provide cars and drivers for the parade, but the drivers are also veterans!  Veterans and their student interviewers are selected to ride in each car to represent each conflict area and a variety of Chapter locations. Join us as we walk alongside the cars in the parade.

The St. Joseph Academy Chapter hosts annual 9/11 remembrance event and speaker for the entire school. In 2024, the students heard from Captain (Ret.) Bob Buehn, former commanding officer at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay.

In addition to participating in the Memorial Day commemoration at the National Cemetery, Chapters are encouraged to connect with their communities by speaking to civic and veteran groups, and participating in other special day’s of observance such as Pearl Harbor Day. We will bring veteran presentations to interested school partners, share opportunities for students like you to practice public speaking and support your leadership development through exposure to military leaders and a student officers chapter structure.
